SILSDEN did not get the chance to stop the rot last night, as their Northern Counties East League Premier Division game at Barton Town was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.
Play-off contenders heading into Christmas, the Cobbydalers have picked up just one point from their last five league games, and have slid down into mid-table.
They somehow lost at home to Golcar United on Saturday, conceding twice in injury-time to lose 3-2 and ending the game with nine men.
Barton are another side in the middle of the pack like Silsden, and the winner last night may have just reignited any faint hopes of a late promotion push.
But sadly, it was the last game of the day to be postponed, with it being decided that Barton’s pitch was unplayable just before 4pm yesterday.
Silsden will have to try again on the road on Saturday, when they travel to rock-bottom Maltby Main desperately seeking a first win of 2024 so far.
