Kayle Price hit his second hat-trick in four days last night, as Silsden recorded a 4-2 win over Bottesford Town.

The Cobbydalers are going to fall short of making the play-offs in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division, but they are seeing out the season in style.

A thrilling 4-3 win over promotion-hunting Penistone Church on Saturday, which saw Price hit his first treble of the week, gave Silsden confidence heading into this home game against lowly Bottesford Town.

Five of the six goals last night were scored in a remarkable first quarter, which left Silsden 3-2 in front after only 22 minutes.

Bottesford had blasted a volley narrowly over the bar in the opening seconds, but Casey Stewart soon gave the hosts the lead, cutting in from the left and crashing home a low shot at the near post.

Moments later, Silsden doubled their lead when Nash Connolly squared the ball for Price to tap it into an empty net.

Donovan Day responded instantly to halve the deficit, with Silsden now 2-1 up after only nine minutes.

Stewart and Connolly both came close as the frantic start continued, before Price tucked away a rebound after Graeme Anderson spilled a shot into his path.

But Anderson made up for that by producing a stunning save to deny Cody Cromack, with Day immediately pulling another goal back.

Silsden gave possession away in a dangerous area and Day beat home keeper Jay Rabone to the ball and tapped it home, rounding off that goal-laden first quarter.

Price smashed a shot over the bar on the half-hour mark, before Bottesford had a half-chance to equalise, only for a bobble to cause the shot to fly miles off-target.

Just before half-time, Stewart cracked a fierce effort straight at Anderson, then Price came close to his hat-trick only to shoot just over.

It was a far quieter second half, with the first real chance not coming until 64 minutes in, when Stewart’s long range free kick forced a smart diving save out of Anderson.

He was on hand to deny Stewart again, this time with his feet, with a quarter-of-an-hour to go, before Price finally finished Bottesford off.

He grabbed his hat-trick goal on 79 minutes, turning the ball home from Stewart’s cutback.

Lewis Gardner and Price were then denied late on by Anderson, who did well to keep the score down.

That was Silsden’s last home league game of the season, with a trio of matches on the road to round off the campaign.

The first of those comes against mid-table Handsworth this coming Saturday.
