A KEIGHLEY potter was unable to secure a second Champions League title after falling at the final hurdle.
Chris Melling (right) won the inaugural edition of the Ultimate Pool competition back in 2021.
He was on track to become the first man to win the Champions League twice following an impressive qualification run.
The Bradford district veteran eased past Kristi Caulfield, Karl Sutton and Scott Gillespie in his last-16 group to gain an invitation to finals night in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
He was joined by Declan Brennan, Carl Morris, and Tom Cousins.
Melling started the night by defeating fellow Englishman Morris in straight sets, 4-1 and 3-2, to reach the last two.
It was a trickier route to the final for Brennan who had to come through a six-red shootout to get past Welshman Cousins.
That toughness came in handy against Melling.
The pair shared a thrilling first two sets before the Northern Irishman came through another shootout to secure the top prize.
It meant 'The Destroyer' ended a three year Ultimate Pool trophy drought.
