There was high drama in the Craven League’s John Clayton Cup semi-final.

Silsden II were 151-7, needing three more runs for victory at home to Skipton CI II, only for Rashad Mahmood-Taj to take a hat-trick off the last three balls of the match to give the Sandylanders a one-run win.

CI opted to bat and made 153 off their 40 overs, with both keeper Naveed Hussain and Jibin Jacob top-scoring with 28 as Joshua Jordan took 3-41, Keenan Wozny 2-19 and Bilal Mahmood 2-35.

Silsden were given a superb start by openers Hugh Sugden (38) and Wozny (47) in a stand of 72, and they were 100-1 and 125-2 before they collapsed, with only Mahmood (14) making double figures of the last eight batters.

The other semi-final between Menston IV and Sutton II was washed out and has been re-arranged for this Sunday (1pm), this time at High Royds rather than The Fox.
