KEIGHLEY Cougars will not be playing their away game against North Wales Crusaders next month in Wales.

The Betfred League 1 encounter is scheduled for Sunday, August 11, but North Wales’ regular home ground, the Stadiwm CSM, is unavailable.

The Crusaders have been informed by Conwy Council that owing to improvement works being undertaken on the running track, they cannot play there that day.

It means the game has had to be moved to Cheshire RUFC’s ground, the only available venue at such short notice which fits the RFL’s stadium criteria for hosting.

The Colywn-bay based side admitted they had hoped to keep the game somewhere in North Wales, but were forced to move it to England due to a lack of other options.

It will be frustrating news for many Cougars fans, who have already booked accommodation in and around Colwyn Bay for the fixture.

As for the Crusaders, they will return to the Stadiwm CSM for the visit of Cornwall on Sunday, September 1, their final game of the regular season.
