OXENHOPE may have been having a tough time of late in the ENCO Halifax League Premier Division of late, but spare a thought for their-top flight rivals Triangle, who were utterly humiliated on home soil on Saturday.

They were dismissed for just 15 at Grassy Bottom in reply to second-placed Booth’s 157, as only two players scored runs and there were eight ducks.

Richard Laycock (6-6) and Patrick Thomas (4-9) cut a swathe through Triangle’s innings in what was the lowest score in the league for many a year.

Harris Rowlett, with 103 not out, was the saviour of Oxenhope’s innings, as they managed to frustrate visiting St Mary’s, who could not dismiss them, instead merely holding them to 168-8.

At 58-5, the away side were in trouble but Luke Brooksby (73 not out), not for the first time this season, and Isaac Thompson (45) rescued the situation to ensure a four-wicket success.

Leaders Thornton found scoring difficult at home to SBCI, losing their first four wickets for 54.

They continued to struggle, with only Ross Parr (34) topping 20 in a surprisingly flat performance as they were dismissed for 150, with Tom Wood taking 4-40.

However, that was end of any hope of an SBCI win as only opener James Summerscales (48) made any sort of impression in their response of 84.

Struggling Sowerby Bridge’s batting had a more solid look about it than usual as they scored 228-8 at mid-table Shelf Northowram Hedge Top, with Sam Dimbleby (5-87) the pick of the attack.

Not to be outshone, in reply, opener Dan Cole was both the architect and foundation of the Hedge Top reply as he crafted 98 not out to lead his team to a winning 231-8.

Oakworth look on course for promotion from the Second Division, and the second-placed side enjoyed an emphatic eight-wicket win at Mount on Saturday.

The hosts opted to bat but they were dismissed for just 99, with Bradley Powell taking 4-25.

Oakworth lost a couple of wickets replying, but opener Joel Gallagher (39no) ensured an early trip back to Keighley for his as they scored 101-2 in a mere 16 overs.

Cullingworth are promotion outsiders at this stage, but they did their chances of going up no harm in a fine 104-run win at Bridgehome.

Visiting openers Michael Dennison (69) and Scott Pearson (45) set the foundation for their team’s 189 at Bridgeholme, where Mohammed Asif took 5-41.

The home team never looked in the hunt when replying, however, and fell for 85 as Elliot Robinson took 4-35.

Queensbury lost ground in the promotion battle, only scoring 127 all out at home to high-flying Stones and losing by four wickets as a result.
