KEIGHLEY have announced the retention of Jordan Schofield for another year.

The prop signed for the club on a one-year deal at the end of last season, arriving at Cougar Park from Wakefield, where he had an important role in their reserves side.

He did however make his Betfred Super League debut for Trinity in September 2023, in their defeat to Hull KR.

Schofield will be hoping to help Keighley return to the Championship at the end of this season, with the aim of then consolidating in the second tier in 2025 if they do achieve promotion.

The 23-year-old has experienced Championship rugby before, having spent two seasons at Dewsbury after exiting Wakefield’s academy.

His time at the club ended on a sour note, with the Rams relegated at the end of the 2022 campaign.

If things go to plan in the next few weeks, Keighley will be replacing Dewsbury in the Championship, just as was the case two years ago.

And Cougars’ interim head coach Jake Webster is delighted to have Schofield staying on board for the ride, saying: "Jordan has earned this new deal.

“His progression this year has been outstanding, he's worked really hard on the detail of his game and that is really starting to show now."
