Silsden’s FA Cup campaign ended in the first qualifying round following a 4-2 defeat away to NWCFL side West Didsbury & Chorlton on Saturday.

Despite taking an early lead through Casey Stewart, the hosts scored twice in quick succession to go in at the break 2-1 up.

Jordan Lazenbury added West’s third on 55 minutes but Kayle Price responded with a smart finish just three minutes later.

Victor Adabaki completed the scoring for the home side on 71 minutes however, ultimately putting an end to Silsden’s FA Cup run.

It took just 14 minutes for the opening goal of the game, Luke Brooksbank picking up the ball on the right-side of the box before delivering a low cross into the path of Stewart, who rifled home his third goal in this season’s competition.

That lead didn’t last long however, Donovan Lescott showing composure inside the penalty area and finishing neatly into the bottom corner.

Just minutes later and Chris Rowney had completed the turn around for West, heading home following an accurate cross into the box.

Silsden would have work to do after the break and that was made even harder when Lazenbury’s stunning strike from outside the box made it 3-1 to the home side.

Kayle Price is a familiar name on the scoresheet for the Cobbydalers and he gave the visiting supporters some hope on 58 minutes.

The striker raced onto Stewart’s through ball and finished brilliantly, lofting the ball over the host’s keeper.

Adabaki ended any hopes of a comeback however, a left footed volley nestling into the bottom corner after Lazenbury had crossed from the left wing.

The 4-2 defeat ends The Cobbydalers’ FA Cup dreams, but there’s still a league campaign to focus on, starting with a long trip to Bottesford Town tonight.
