KEIGHLEY Cougars have announced that Ben Dean has signed a two-year contract extension with the club.

The half-back has proved to be a useful player since arriving from Huddersfield Giants in October last season, and he’s been rewarded with an extension.

Jake Webster commented: “Since day one of pre-season I have seen the flair and talent young Benny has.

“I am really happy to keep him around for two years and watch his growth because he has all the talent and traits of a star half-back in the making."

Cougars have also announced that Lewis Hatton has suffered a fractured tibia in the game against Cornwall in June.

Hatton, who went for an X-Ray immediately following the game, was originally cleared of any break or damage to his ankle and started to progress with rehabilitation, however, was experiencing ongoing symptoms.

Following further MRI scans, a fracture to his tibia was discovered. He is now awaiting further imaging to determine whether surgery is needed and will not feature again in the 2024 season.

Keighley commented: “We would like to wish Lewis a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing him back in the Red, Green and White in 2025.”
