In the ENCO Halifax League Second Division, Sowerby St Peter’s have a 10-point lead at the summit over Oakworth after thrashing bottom-of-the-table Bridgeholme and have been promoted.
Their advantage at the top increased on Saturday due to second-placed Oakworth coming a cropper at Cullingworth, losing by 97 runs.
But the visitors will have been consoled by the fact that they too are promoted.
The hosts batted first after the skies cleared and scored an impressive 253-6 in their reduced 42 overs.
Charlie Smith scored a career-best 87 not out but he was left stranded in sight of his maiden century, which he may have achieved with the extra three overs that would normally have been played.
Elliot Robinson was also in the runs with 79 as Bradley Powell took 4-72 for Oakworth.
The away side’s reply was well below par as no batter could reach 40 and, with James Bloodworth taking 4-74, they were all out for 156 in the 28th over.
The win gives Cullingworth a chance of going up in third, with them sat 11 points off promotion with two games to go.
Over in the Premier Division, the rain reached mid-table Oxenhope early and their match against rock-bottom Luddendenfoot was abandoned after the visitors had scored 21-0.
