INGROW, who won three of their last four matches, have avoided relegation from Division Two of the Timothy Taylor’s Craven League.

Their emphatic last-day triumph came at home to already-relegated Hepworth & Idle II, who chose to field at Hainworth Lane and saw Ingrow score an impressive 258-9.

It was a team effort by the hosts, with opener Ben Weatherall (39) putting on 50 for the third wicket with Shahid Ajmal (28), before a brilliant unbroken last-wicket partnership of 62 between Alex Frye (55 not out) and Aaron Pearce (15no).

Frye’s runs came off just 29 balls and included three fours and five sixes.

Buoyant at tea, Ingrow then dismissed the Westfield Laners for 57, with John Allott bagging 3-30 and Atif Malik 3-8 off his seven overs.

Skipton CI also escaped after defeating already-promoted Silsden, who won the toss and chose to bat, but were dismissed for 142, which was some recovery from 21-5.

Tom Leach (63 off 60 balls) rescued them from oblivion, but their total was still nowhere near enough to trouble CI, who won by eight wickets in the 29th over.

The focus then switched to Thornton-in-Craven, who were at home to Cononley and were not safe themselves.

The hosts made an impressive 221-6 after being sent in, as Chris Bowler scored 101 not out, opening bowler Harry Parker finishing with 3-51.

Cononley, whose batting has been fragile of late, were then dismissed for 67 inside 27 overs, No.9 Ikram Daulatzai scoring 42 to at least help them recover from the embarrassment of slipping to 13-7.

But that was no consolation to Cononley, who dropped into the bottom two and were relegated on the final day of the season, as a result of Ingrow and CI winning their last two games to escape.

Sutton, who won five of their last six, finished in fourth, with their last victory coming in a knife-edge clash at home to Airedale, who ended up third, just three points ahead of their hosts.

Airedale were sent in and were looking good courtesy of Mathew Cox (31) and Raja Mohammad Adnan (21) until Dave Snowden transformed the innings by taking 5-19.

Needing 119 for victory, Sutton crashed from 34 without loss to 52-6, only for Tommy Miller (26) and Oliver Gledhill to lead a recovery.

And the latter dominated a last-wicket unbroken stand of 27, finishing on 35 not out to see his side home alongside tailender Philip Edwards.

That gave Sutton a memorable win, foiling Scott Whittam-Ritchie (5-35) and Ijaz Shah (3-33).

Denholme, who needed two points to be safe, got them before tea at champions Bowling Baptist by making 153-5 after opting to bat.

Ben Burkill (32) and Adam Vaux (30) were the main contributors and it meant their eventual five-wicket defeat to Baptist was irrelevant.

In Division One, Riddlesden won a Keighley derby by 40 runs against Haworth in a low-scoring contest at Grange Road.

The hosts chose to have first knock, but could only make 111, keeper Tayyab Riaz being instrumental in getting them to three figures by scoring 54.

Damian Rowell (4-24) and Asim Khan (4-32) were the star bowlers, but only keeper Harry Reynoldson (28) and Ollie Bishop (22) then got into double figures after tea as bottom-of-the-table Haworth were rolled over for 71.

Mohammed Zulfiqar took 6-29 and Zahan Ghaffar 3-4 as Riddlesden cemented second place.

Glusburn, promoted last season, will be happy with their campaign as they finished fourth, ending with a maximum-points haul at relegated Wilsden.

The visitors chose to bowl and castled the hosts for 50 inside 25 overs, with Irfan Khaliq (5-19) and Abrar Sarwar (3-30) doing plenty of damage with the new ball.

Muhammad Hussnain (30) and Dipesh Mistry (20no) then took Glusburn to the brink of victory with an opening stand of 50, and they won by nine wickets in just the eighth over.

Bradley, Division Two champions last term, also survived - in eighth place, 23 points above Wilsden.

The South Craven side could not finish the season with a victory, however, going down by 54 runs at Haworth Road Meths, who made 154 after choosing to have first knock, Toby Meynell taking 3-27 and Akeel Rashid claiming 3-44.

Four of Bradley’s top five then made double figures, topped by Rashid (27) and Meynell (22), but they lacked support and were dismissed for 100.

Cowling ended their campaign one place and 23 points ahead of Bradley with a fine victory at third-placed Hepworth & Idle.

The visitors were struggling at 29-4 but Laiq Ur Rehman helped them to 143 by scoring 51 not out from 68 deliveries.

Hepworth & Idle used all 11 bowlers and they all got a chance to bat as they were dismissed for 101, with Danish Hameed (2-17), Ur Rehman (2-20) and Hassnain Ishaq (2-25) among the wickets.

There was a top-two clash in Division Three, which ended with visitors Long Lee defeating hosts Cowling II by 20 runs, with promotion in the bag before the match for both.

Champions Long Lee were sent in and made 132, keeper James Fulwood top-scoring with 46 at No.10 as Awais Riaz took 5-40, Majid Iqbal 2-22 and Haseeb Majid 2-30.

Cowling were 57-7 after tea and did well to reach 112, courtesy of a half-century by Ubaid Rauf, Qasim Tarin bagging 6-30 in his side’s victory.

Silsden II, who were guaranteed third place, had an easy last-day win over relegated Bingley Congs III, who only had 10 men and were dismissed for 65 after being sent in, five bowlers taking wickets, headed by Alex Nelson (3-8).

Hosts Silsden then won by seven wickets inside 18 overs, Ashton Wozny (20) top scoring and being backed up by Hugh Sugden (17no) and Josh Jordan (18no).

Sutton, who finished seventh, were handed a walkover by relegated Keighley III.

In Division Four, Skipton CI II sent in Haworth II at West Lane and dismissed them for 125, home captain Chris Smith opening the batting and scoring 54, while 12-year-old Max Wareing contributed 24.

CI must have been optimistic at tea, but their mood soon changed when they were 12-3 and 44-5 as Zachary Fyfe-Gudgeon (5-21) and Wareing (3-16) got to work, and they fell 14 runs short of victory.

The six points that CI II gained left them level with Bowling Baptists II on 233 points, with the latter being promoted in second place thanks to a superior runs-per-wicket ratio.

Champions Bradley II sent in Long Lee II at Golden View and dismissed them for 52 in 23.3 overs, Charlie Andrews (4-20) and Hamza Ayub (3-9) forming a potent combination.

Opener Jack Andrews (38no) then saw Bradley to a 13th victory of the campaign as they won by seven wickets inside nine overs.

Airedale II won a Keighley derby by 93 runs against Ingrow II at the Airedale Oval.

The hosts chose to bat but were 24-2 before Chris Gill thumped a brilliant 100 from only 81 balls.

Usman Butt took 3-34 and Jarvid Iqbal managed 3-37 but Ingrow were dismissed for 100 in reply, despite Abid Hussain scoring 34, as Asher Nutting (3-38) and Paul Feather (3-40) prospered.
