Keighley Cougars’ newly-reformed women’s side took on a very strong GB Police team in a charity match at the Etihad Campus in Manchester on Sunday.
In a one-sided affair, the Cougars Women battled gamely but fell to a heavy 76-6 defeat.
There was at least a joyous moment for scrum half Chloe Hammond, who scored Keighley’s only try of the afternoon, which was converted by full back Kaitlin Williams.
Two Bradford Bulls players were in action for the GB Police team, in Bailey Alexander and Jamie-Leigh Scott.
Unfortunately, Scott tore her Achilles during the game, and is facing several months out injured before returning to action.
Sunday’s game at the Etihad Campus was played to raise funds for The Christie Charity, which is based in Manchester.
The Christie ensure that cancer treatments can be given to patients who sorely need it and that essential research can progress to reach life-changing breakthroughs.
