KEIGHLEY potter Chris Melling has stormed into the semi-finals of the Ultimate Pool Pairs Cup alongside his playing partner Tom Ford.
Sixty-four pairs entered the competition earlier this year, and were placed into 16 groups of four.
Melling and Ford won their initial group in July, putting them into the last-16, which has been split into four groups of four.
The winner of each of those will advance into the Finals Night on Monday, November 4, with the first one played at the start of this week, which involved Melling and Ford.
The duo were right at it from the off, as they beat Michael Gibney and Craig Waddingham 4-2 in their opener, after a 3-1 win by Rikki Jones and Jordan Shepherd over Andy Blurton and Neil Raybone had got the night underway.
And when Melling and Ford thumped Jones and Shepherd 4-1 in their second game of the night, they were on the brink of qualification already, after Gibney and Waddingham drew 3-3 with Blurton and Raybone.
And when Jones and Shepherd were thrashed 4-0 by Gibney and Waddingham in the penultimate game of the night, it meant Melling and Ford were guaranteed to go through, regardless of the result of their final game.
But they won that anyway, defeating Blurton and Raybone 3-2 to round off a perfect night.
Melling and Ford will face the winner of Group 2, which is being played next Monday, in their semi-final next month.
