Jimmy Lund bounced back from his long injury lay-off in style at the Triathlon World Cup in Rome, which bodes well for his important race in Turkey later this month.
The Keighley native had damaged a nerve by his ankle in training during the summer, soon after competing at a pair of Europe Triathlon Cup events in Poland.
To prepare for his Italian job at the start of this month, he raced in the British Championships at Mallory Park in late September, securing an impressive silver medal.
And still brimming with confidence after that result, he came 13th at the World Cup event in Rome, bettering his 20th placed finish there from the previous year.
Lund completed the course in a shade over 56 minutes and was only 12 seconds away from ending up in the top 10, which he had been hoping for.
The 25-year-old had the honour of being the first Brit to cross the line, with good friend Chris Perham not far behind him in 20th spot.
Lund told the Keighley News he is targeting a first-ever international podium in his final race of the season, which is that aforementioned event in Turkey.
That Europe Triathlon Cup race takes place in Alanya on Sunday, October 27.
