SILSDEN remain two points clear at the top of the Northern Counties East League Premier Division after derby-day success.
They travelled to last season’s play-off semi-finalists Campion and won 1-0 to keep their place at the summit ahead of Golcar United.
Casey Stewart, who had scored both goals the previous weekend to send the Cobbydalers into the FA Vase third round, was the man on target once again, netting the winner after 19 minutes.
Silsden started brightly at Scotchman Road on Saturday, Jake Cassidy having a volley well blocked and Luke Brooksbank firing just wide after being played in by Kayle Price.
They had to do some defending when a brave block kept out a curling effort from the home side, but otherwise the Cobbydalers were well on top.
The visitors were left incensed after feeling the referee had missed a blatant handball on the line from Campion, but Silsden channelled that feeling of injustice in the right way, taking the lead soon after.
A flowing team moved ended with Ellis Hudson cutting the ball back perfectly into the path of Stewart, who had the simple task of rolling it into the net from close range.
Campion had a great chance to equalise 10 minutes before the break but sent a back-post header on to the roof of the net when it looked easier to score.
After a quiet start to the second half, Silsden came close just after the hour mark when Hudson’s driving run and shot was superbly kept out low down by the home stopper.
Callum Bradbury was commanding his box nicely for Silsden, with one brilliant punch away from a dangerous cross late on summing up his impressive afternoon.
The Cobbydalers then went up to the other end, with Brooksbank’s long-range effort almost catching out the keeper.
It was Silsden who ended the game on top, Jack Stockdill firing wide from long range and Harry Coates nodding over an excellent set-piece delivery.
Campion were unable to find an equaliser at the death, with this marking Silsden’s 12th win in a row in all competitions.
