Carly Robertson overcame injury to take top billing as Oakbank School starred in the annual Army Cross Country Championships at Beverley Racecourse.
Robertson was leading the 4.5km girls race with over 150 students trailing in her wake when she fell at a tight corner and hurt her ankle.
But, despite falling 20 metres behind the new leader from Hull-based South Holderness School, the Bingler Harriers athlete fought through the pain barrier to regain the lead and clinch the title she also won last year.
Robertson’s victory was one of four titles that Oakbank won at the Remembrance Day event, which attracted schools and colleges throughout the North.
Oakbank's Zara Knappy ran extremely well to finish fifth overall and this was good enough for the bronze medal in the under-15 race.
She was ably backed up by her team-mates in that age as Charlotte Cox (sixth), Chelsey Holder (seventh) and Hannah Hiscock (11th) helped the Keighley-based school take the under-15 girls title.
In the boys' 5.3km race, Oakbank's Jack Thorp ran splendidly with a strong run to finish sixth overall in a field of more than 190 runners.
As first under-16 home, he took the Year 11 crown and also led his school to the team title in that age group, with James Bancroft (fourth), Josh Fleetwood (sixth), Owen Whelan (seventh), Luke Fleetwood (ninth) providing vital contributions.
In the under-15 boys event, Ben Wortley finished fifth in a strong field and was ably backed up by Josh Ferguson (seventh), James Lee (17th), Ben Addison (21st), Scott Williamson (31st) and George Dennis (32nd) as their age group took second place.
