Keighley director of rugby Jeff Inman believes the form book will go out of the window in Saturday’s derby clash with Skipton.
Despite winning five of their last seven league games, his side are taking nothing for granted as they welcome their rivals to Rose Cottage.
Last week’s 17-12 defeat to Leodiensians in the first round of the Yorkshire Shield was a major disappointment but Inman is keen to ensure there are no slip-ups on Saturday.
Keighley currently sit seventh in Yorkshire One, with Skipton four points and four places behind.
“We’ve been playing some nice rugby and if you take last week out, we’ve won five out of seven,” said Inman. “However, a derby is a different ball game, it’s a one-off and there’s added motivation.
“These games are priceless. The crowd will be important and it’ll be a big gate for us, as it will for them when we play there.
“It’s just a great game for rugby union. These are the kind of games you miss out on when you’re playing in the National Leagues.”
Meanwhile, Skipton head coach and former Keighley player Martin Whitcombe hopes victory can fuel his side’s drive up the table.
They have lost their last two league games but Whitcombe said: “If we can string together a few results, we will be in the top third.
“If we can do that, it will put a whole new light on the season for us. You look forward to these games and I have the utmost respect for Keighley, the club and the players.”
