Lees Primary School’s under-11 boys’ team have already won two titles this winter and are hoping to make it a hat-trick.
Under the guidance of coach Noel Chipman, the Cross Roads-based youngsters have lifted both the Keighley and District and the West Yorkshire crowns, the latter coming at Bradford Grammar School last month.
They now go forward to the zone finals at The Girls’ Grammar School, Bradford, on Sunday, January 24.
Chipman said: “This is a very, very good achievement as they have only been playing for a couple of years, and Josh Baker could turn out to be a very good player.”
All the boys attend coaching sessions at the Keighley Table Tennis Academy, which receives funding from Oakbank School Sports Partnership.
Lees Primary School have a history of success in the sport. Last year, for example, Alex Baker won the Bradford Schools’ under-nine boys’ event at Bradford Grammar School.
